Hunters and Gatherers Land
Aboriginal people have a profound spiritual connection to their land and the circles in the reproduction of the traditional painting “Hunters and Gatherers Land” represent the life forces of the land and the colours of the circles symbolise the changing colours of the Red Centre in Central Australia. Aboriginals lived in small family groups and were a hunter-gatherer people who adapted well to their land. In the reproduction the warriors are carrying the kangaroo back to their campsite and family group. Aboriginals always respected their land and its many food sources and never appropriated more than they needed. Everyone had a place of value in the family group and everything was shared. So all the family shared in on the kangaroo, but the warrior who caught the kangaroo and his family got the better portion.
